  Breastfeeding – Overdue baby :

My baby is overdue and I am worried and confused about how my body will know when to produce milk for the baby?

Your body is perfectly designed to produce the milk at the right time. It’s the removal of the placenta after birth has taken place, which causes the milk-producing hormones to kick in. So don’t worry that your milk will be off because you are past your due date.

Once the milk producing hormones are present, they are boosted regularly by the sucking action of your baby on the breast, causing more milk to be produced. In this way the demand for milk is met by the production – a more perfect design you could not think of!
