  Birth – Forceps delivery - Reason :

Why might the doctor decide on a forceps delivery?

The doctor may decide on a forceps delivery in the following situations: the baby is stuck in the birth canal, the mother is too exhausted to push any longer or there is abnormal fetal heart rate. Therefore the first stage of birth has to be completed and the cervix must be fully dilated. It is common for premature babies to be delivered by forceps. It is important to have a good relationship with your doctor so that you trust his judgment. If he decides on a forceps delivery, you must remember that a healthy baby is the outcome that everyone is striving for.
