  Induction – Failed :

What happens if the doctor does not manage to induce my labour?

If for whatever reason, after trying all the avenues available in order to get labour well established, there is not significant progress then the doctor will usually decide to perform a caesarian. The use of the intravenous drip to administer medication such as oxytoxin which brings on the contractions is usually carried out for up to eight hours before resorting to a caesarian.
