Breastfeeding – Reasons not to :

Are there reasons that I should not breastfeed?

In very rare cases breast feeding is not recommended: if you have a serious illness or on medication or drugs that could be passed to the baby, then bottle feeding would be preferable. If you are in any way uncertain, it is vital to speak to your doctor and get advice for your particular situation. In addition if your baby is born with either a cleft palate or metabolic disorders, then you will be given proper help in the hospital to find the best solution for your situation.

Remember that the world is full of babies that have thrived on formula. So if for any reason you prefer to go that route, the decision is yours. Look at the pros and cons and make a decision based on your own situation. See bottle feeding.
