Breastfeeding – Alcohol to boost milk :

My mom keeps telling me that if I drink milk stout it will increase my milk supply. Is there any reason why I should not drink when feeding?

A huge number of old wives tales provide useful help during these times of upheaval! Also you will meet many women who swear by the use of drinks such as milk stout to increase milk supply. However the alcohol in these drinks will be passed on to your baby in tiny amounts. If you want to try and see if it works for you, then have your drink immediately after a feed so that the alcohol has time to work its way through you body before the next feed. Scientific research has found that alcohol tends to decrease rather than increase the milk supply.
