The main drawbacks to bottle feeding are the cost and the
fact that you have to be extremely organised. All the feeding
equipment must be completely sterilised, otherwise the baby
risks getting ill. Fresh sterilised bottles and teats must
be prepared before hand so that the formula can be made
up quickly when the feed is due. It is important not to
make up feeds before hand to prevent formula spoiling. However
there are many nifty gadgets available to help you with
the organisation – such as little holders for the
pre-weighed powder which can then be dropped into the boiled
and cooled water when required. None of this preparation
need be alarming – again it is just a skill you need
to acquire. Ask for help if you are unsure!
